About the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers is the professional body for all members of the commercial shipping industry worldwide. It was founded in 1911 and awarded a Royal Charter in 1920.

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers sets and examines the syllabus for membership, providing the shipping industry with highly qualified professionals. It is the only internationally recognized professional body in the commercial maritime arena and it represents shipbrokers, ship managers and agents throughout the world. It has 26 branches in key locations and 4,000 individual Members and Fellows.

About the Hong Kong Branch

As one of the oldest branches outside of UK headquarter, the Hong Kong Branch was established in 1963. 

The Hong Kong Branch has been following the commitments set by the ICS headquarters in UK, to maintain the highest professional shipping standard across the Hong Kong shipping communities. In addition to the continuing assistance being provided to all the ICS fellows, members, and exam candidates in Hong Kong in terms of the membership and examination matters, the Hong Kong Branch has also become one of the largest entities among local shipping professionals, where knowledge and ideas can be shared to collectively improve the shipping industry in Hong Kong.
