He is on arbitrator panels of numerous arbitration institutions including HKIAC (HK International Arbitration Centre),

Commission) and SCIA (Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration).

05. JAGMEET MAKKAR, FICS
A unique combination of academic prowess and experience in commercial shipping
(chartering, ship sale & purchase, cargo marketing, long term contracts), shipbuilding, ship
management, dispute resolution and senior management roles defines Jagmeet's career.
Jagmeet is a Shipping Expert with extensive and valuable knowledge enabling him to
contribute to the industry as an expert, arbitrator, consultant and an educator & trainer. He is
a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), member of the Education & Training
Committee of the ICS, supporting member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association
(LMAA), Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and a member of HK Maritime
Arbitration Group (HKMAG) with nearly 37 years of experience in shipping (technical and commercial).
Before pursuing a master’s degree in Energy, Trade and Finance from Cass Business
School, London and launching his own firm Pastiche Holdings Ltd., Jagmeet worked as the
Co-Head of Chartering & Global Head of Shipping Assets of Noble Group with responsibility
for joint ventures, long term projects, shipping assets, India chartering business, operations
and risk management.
He is a regular speaker at various international events and has contributed to a number of
publications.

06. IR. DR. T L YIP, MICS
Deputy Director in C.Y. Tung International Centre for Maritime Studies and Associate
Professor, Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies, The Hong Kong Polytechnic
University (PolyU).
Dr Yip is a specialist marine traffic engineer and a chartered mechanical engineer in Hong
Kong and United Kingdom. Before joining PolyU, he was the Principal / Senior Marine
Engineer, BMT Asia Pacific (2002-2005).
Ir. Dr. Yip is serving as the Programme Leader of BBA-International Shipping and Transport
Logistics, PolyU. Since 2005, he has been teaching the shipbroking subjects in PolyU, and
he has been liaising with the Hong Kong branch of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers for
examination venues, ICS scholarship, MOU between PolyU & ICS, and other issues of
mutual interests. He has been serving on the EXCO Committee of Hong Kong Branch since
2015.
 
07. P.C. Li, FICS
Started his shipping career with Farenco HK. Thence worked as a professional shipbroker in
Hong Kong Chartering Ltd and Wallem Shipbroking. In 1997, he formed his own shipbroking
company P.C. Li Shipbrokers. Joined ICS, HK EXCO in 2013.

08. CAPT. SURESH PRABHAKAR, FICS
2006 – Present: Pacific Basin Shipping (HK) Ltd; Director Commercial Operations
 Responsibilities include overseeing the Commercial Operations of 107 Owned and 125
Chartered Handy and Supramax bulk carriers trading worldwide.
 Oversee Commercial Operations in 10 offices globally involving 78 shore-based staff.

 Oversaw the Technical and Crew Management based in Hong Kong and for 1.5 years in

Obtained MSc of International Shipping and Logistics Management in Hong Kong
Polytechnic University in 2011.
Currently working as Operations Manager of Clipper Group Hong Kong Limited; previously
worked in commercial and operations roles at Wallem Commercial Services and Wallem
Shipbroking HK for more than 10 years.

10. LI GENG, (JOSH) FICS
HKU MBA, MSc, BBA, AHKIArb,
Manager, Shipping Leasing Division, Cosco Shipping Development Co., Ltd.
Start his career as an international commodity trader. Worked in Pacific Basin and China
Shipping Bulk Carriers (HK) for more than three years in various positions, gained
experiences in the fields of drybulk and parcel ship commercial operations.
Mr. LI is now working for China Cosco Shipping Group, focusing on shipping finance project
development. This will be the 7th year for him served as an Exco member.

11. SHARAD GUPTA, FICS
Fellow Institute of Marine Engineers (India), Member of HK Institute of Marine Technology.
Graduate in Marine Engineering.
After 11 years of sea-service upto the rank of Chief Engineer, worked from 2006 to 2016
managing vessels as Technical Manager / Technical Superintendent in Hong Kong.
Presently Managing Director of Sygnus Marine HK, providing maritime training, inspection
and consultancy services.

12. CAPT. SANJEEV VERMA, MICS

Associate Fellow to Nautical Institute
Managing Director, Landbridge Ship Management, Hong Kong
Master Mariner with nearly 23 years of experience in shipping on all kind of tankers (Oil,
Chemicals and LPG/LNG).
Working ashore since 2009 into ship management, cargo expedition, risk management for
Major Oil companies, teaching various maritime universities in India and China, serving as
an active member of the Marine Department Shipping Consultative Committee (SCC),
member of LR Technical Committee, member of Intertanko Vetting and Human Element
Committees, serving as member to the Hong Kong Transport Department
Personalized Number Vetting Committee and Juror to the honorable High Court of Hong
Kong. Sanjeev had presented various papers across the different industry platforms.
He had completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) for prestigious “Hong Kong
University of Science and Technology (HKUST)” in 2017, while working as senior
management with Hong Kong based shipping company. A keen learner and strong
supportive of giving back to the shipping industry on whatever he had learnt.

13. ABHINAV MAKKAR, FICS
Primarily a dry-cargo broker, and is slowly gaining experience in tanker chartering. After
appearing for his ICS examinations in 2010, Abhinav joined P C Li Shipbrokers, a boutique
Hong Kong based dry cargo broking firm. As a trainee shipbroker under the illustrious Mr. P
C Li, he picked up the tools of the maritime trade. Following P C Li, worked with Wonsild
Hong Kong, as part of their Asia-Pacific handymax team.
Abhinav has also worked for over three years with a large Indian Ship and Port agency
company, and has garnered experience in vessel calls and port disbursement enquiries,
estimations and calculations at various Indian ports.
At Pastiche Holdings, Abhinav's primary focus is dry cargo trade in Asia and the Persian
Gulf, for handymax, supramax, panamax and kamsarmax tonnage.

14. CHAN, KA HO (DAVIN), MICS
BBA (Hons.) (HK PolyU), MSc (HK PolyU)
Since graduated from MSc in International Shipping & Transport Logistics, Davin has been
working on operation and commercial aspects in a Hong Kong tanker shipowner.
Also, Davin joined ICS HK in 2011 to become a MICS, contributing to various aspects of
development and activities of the Institute.

15. ANAND SHARMA, FICS

Chief Engineer sailed for about 9 years on different kind of ships. Started shore Career with
Great Eastern Shipping as Technical Manager. Worked as Technical Superintendent with
Univan, KC Maritime. Left KC Maritime in 2005 as Fleet Manager and joined Anglo Eastern,
HK. Part-time lecturer of the shipping programmes co-organized by SCOPE of City
University of HK and Institute of Seatransport. Tutor of Study Groups for ICS students for the
Professional Qualifying Examinations.

16. CAPT. ROHIT KULKARNI MICS

17. RAKESH SETHI, MICS
Qualification - Bachelors in Marine Engg & Masters in Naval Architecture.
MSc International Shipping and Transport Logistics.
Accreditations - MICS (UK), MIMarEST (UK), MRINA (UK), MHKIMT (HK), AHKIArb (HK),
MIMarE (IND)
Accomplished and goal-oriented professional with graduation in Marine Engineering and
Naval Architecture. 22 years of vast experience in technical ship management, Conversions,
New-Buildings, Ship Sale & Purchase, major life extension projects and commercial
shipping.
Cross Sectorial experience, after spending several years at sea on bulkers, tankers,
container ships, gas carriers, upto the rank of Chief Engineer.
Qualified with MSc in International Shipping and transport logistics from Hong Kong
Polytechnic University.
Also, on committee of Joint branch of IMarEST & RINA and HK Institute of Marine
technology. This gives a platform for knowledge enhancement.

18. HE ZHUOER (JON), MICS

Mr. HE joined ICS events as voluntary student helper since 2013, became MICS further
serving as the Executive Committee for ICS, Hong Kong Branch from 2017.
Now he is serving as ship owner and charterer company BG Shipping Co., Limited,
subsidiary of China Beibu Gulf Group, focusing on dry bulk chartering and fleets strategic
deployment, major in Supramax and Ultramax positioning Pacific and Indian Ocean. He aims
to establish broad & superior platforms and provide excellent services for ICS young
members and shipping industry.

19. WAN, YIM YU (BRIAN) MICS
Started his career as an Operations Officer at Anglo-Eastern Ship Management at 2011.
After the merger of Anglo-Eastern Group and Univan Group, transferred to Anglo-Eastern
Tanker Management (Hong Kong) Ltd. (ex-Univan) in early 2017, as an Assistant Manager;
his work now focus on marine insurance matters, including personal injuries claims, cargo
claims, hull and machinery claims, and related matters.
Brian earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Ship and Port Management from Southampton
Solent University, U.K., and holding a Master of Science (MSc) in International Shipping and
Transport Logistics from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
